CoEd Supply College Subscription Box Review! March 2014

20140418-121110.jpg

This is a review of CoEd Supply’s March box… The review may be late, but I’m really excited to share this company with you guys! (especially my fellow college students)

I’m constantly (literally constantly) on the hunt for subscription boxes and products that will make my life as a student a little more enjoyable. I know, I know…everyone gets out of college, starts working and then tells us students we’ve got it really good. But trying to graduate as a double major in French and Chemistry, while working two jobs, volunteering at two medical clinics and studying for the Dental Admissions test is NOT easy! At least not in my books. So again, I’m always happy to find new pick-me ups for the hard working college student.

Co-Ed Supply is a subscription box that is made specifically for students. They focus on providing you with essentials while still making boxes unique and enjoyable. I was delighted when Co-Ed Supply sent me a box for review and even more delighted when I got my box. There were so many neat things!

20140418-120948.jpg

Unfortunately I was a dummy and forgot to scratch out my address before I took a picture of the outside of the box, so this is the first picture I have. Not that I think any of you want to send me mail or come visit my house…but you never know ;)

The Box: Co-Ed Supply

The Cost: Classic Box ($20/month) Deluxe Box ($35/month)

This is a review of the Deluxe Box.

Kikkerland Owl Laundry Bag

Value: $10.00

This is an adorable bag. And it’s not a tiny little draw-string bag, this will fit up to two loads of laundry. Perfect for that dorm-room student or for someone who doesn’t have a washer in their apartment.

20140418-121002.jpg

Foldable Paper Desk Organizer

Value: $10.00

I love this! I actually will not be using it as a desk organizer entirely, but I made the little boxes into drawer organizers in my bathroom! This would be cute out on a table too.

20140418-121008.jpg

Mama’s Magic Mix & Two Degree Bar in Apple Pecan

Value: $5.00 and $2.00

Two Degree bars are one of my new favorites. They fill me up and they are super moist. I don’t like when I feel like I need to drink a gallon of water to get a bar down.

20140418-121015.jpg

UrgentRX Ache & Pain Relief To-Go

Value: $2.00

This is one of those essentials that college students should always have on hand. I’ve actually never seen this form of pain-relief and I love that these are flavored packets.

20140418-121023.jpg

El’s Kitchen Snacks & Two Degree Bar in Chocolate Peanut

Value: $7.00 and $2.00

Another couple of snacks that are great to have on hand in between classes or during long study sessions. And the El’s snacks are gluten-free!

20140418-121028.jpg

Secret Clinical Strength Trave-Size Deodorant

Value: $2.50

I don’t know one college student who couldn’t use another deodorant. This went immediately into my gym bag!

20140418-121038.jpg

The Knork Set of 4

Value: $3.00

These are awesome! And they are dishwasher safe which makes me even more likely to use them :)

20140418-121044.jpg

Energems Chocolate Charge

Value: $3.00

Salba Chia Boost

Value: $1.00

Home Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

Value: $1.50

I’ve received a lot of these Energems lately and I actually really like them! They just taste like fat M&M’s but have a little energy packed in as well. These are great to have in your purse or backpack for emergencies.

Verdict: I loved this box! The retail value was nearly $50 and there isn’t one item I would have preferred not to receive. I think snacks are important when it comes to college boxes, but I like seeing other practical items as well. I’m most excited about the desk organizer and I’m curious what parts of the box were most exciting to other students! Did you receive this month’s Co-Ed Supply box?

I realize now that my granite countertop was not the best choice for this photo! These pieces are Box of Happies exclusive and were perfect for St. Patty’s Day. (Yes I wore them both) This necklace has actually become one of my new favorites; green is my favorite color and I think this is pretty and delicate!

This makeup remover smells so nice and it actually works very well! It’s completely vegan, non-toxic and paraben free.

IMG_5418

Tulips Apothecary Pucker Pots in Licorice Stick

Value: $8.00

I was so excited when I saw this pot because I love handmade, artisan lip products. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed in the scent because I am not a black licorice fan. However, I’ll be gifting this to a friend who I know will enjoy it :)

IMG_5419

Earth Cookie Creations Magnets

Value: $2.50

I was really excited to see these in the box because my fridge is desperately in need of magnets and I have been putting off buying any for months. I immediately stuck these on there and I love the way they look!

Verdict: This box had a retail value of about $33. I had so much fun looking through all of the items! Each of these small retailers were new to me which makes me happy, I love discovering new small businesses. For me, this Box of Happies was a win win, as I received some awesome products I’ll enjoy, while they are doing their part to support local businesses. This is absolutely a subscription I’d gift to a friend and Box of Happies has a large variety of different length subscriptions to choose from!

Square Hue Subscription Review – March 2014

IMG_5411

Square Hue is a monthly nail subscription that sends you a set of 3 custom nail colors that are curated to fit that month’s theme. Square Hue kindly sent me March’s box to review and let’s just say that I was more than thrilled when I saw what this month’s collection was…Paris!

IMG_5401

It’s hard to believe that I’ve already been back in the U.S. for nine months; It feels like I just got back! Oh, how I miss France.

The Box: Square Hue

The Cost: $14.99/month + shipping

All of Square Hue’s polishes are made in the USA, are “5-free,” and are never tested on animals. I was excited to see what colors Square Hue chose for the Paris Collection.

IMG_5404

IMG_5402

Champs Elysées

This polish is beautiful! It has a very fine shimmer and is the palest of greens. I actually painted my nails with this for St. Patrick’s Day! I didn’t want bright green, but this polish kept me from getting pinched ;)

IMG_5407

IMG_5406

Notre Dame

Named after one of the most beautiful buildings in Paris (in my opinion), this polish is a rich, creamy texture and color. I haven’t used this one yet but I plan on using it maybe alone on 4 fingers and underneath a sparkly top coat on one finger.

IMG_5409

IMG_5408

Arc de Triomphe

Just typing this review makes me wish I was gazing at L’Arc de Triomphe! This polish is definitely classic Paris, and has a fine shimmer to it. It reminds me of French macaroons and pastries. I think I’ll be trying this on my toes next!

IMG_5410

This collection is so cohesive! All of these polishes are beautiful on their own but they could definitely be used with the same mani to create something special.

Verdict: I love this month’s collection! And not just because it is Paris themed. These polishes are fantastique! I first have to say how much I love the bottle design of Square Hue’s polishes. I don’t feel like it’s going to tip over when I’m painting my nails and they fit really nicely together in my polish drawer. I think Square Hue does a great job coordinating their collections, I can tell a lot of thought went into curating this month’s theme. And let’s face it, $14.99 for three, high-quality nail polishes is a great deal!

If you’d like to sign up for Square Hue, click HERE. I noticed that there is also currently an offer for 50% off your first collection if you sign up to receive their newsletter!

The Feed Subscription Review, Coupon Code & Giveaway – February 2014

IMG_5301

Hello to my lovely readers! I’m sorry for the week and a half silence, I was in finals and had to devote all of my attention to studying! But, I’m back with another awesome review and a giveaway to spice things up :)

The Feed is a monthly sports nutrition service that sends you the best products in fitness nutrition. They work with you to help you achieve your goals by providing you with the nutrition products you need to get you through your training.

IMG_5288

They offer a starter box that contains 6 “must-have” sports nutrition products, the first three steps of the Feed System, and a Camelbak water bottle.   Each month, you can let The Feed pick out your products, or pick the products yourself. Prices vary depending on how many products you pick for yourself each month and therefore, every box is extremely customizable!  You also have access to a personal nutrition coach who can help you to achieve your goals.

IMG_5289

The Box: The Feed

The Cost: Varies depending on what you select for your box! (Starter Box is $19.97)

As a former collegiate athlete, I know how important it is to provide your body with the correct nutrition, no matter what your fitness goals. That being said, I was excited to check out The Feed and see what products they had available.

The Feed kindly provided me a box with a variety of items for review.

IMG_5290

I thought these stickers were so cute, I had to include a picture. The “I sweat for snacks” one is particularly accurate for me ;)

IMG_5291

Epic Bars

Cost: $5.80

I was really interested to try these out! They are 100% organic and are like jerky on yummy steroids. The beef one was my favorite but they were both tasty. These are packed with protein so are perfect for a post-workout snack or as a meal replacement.

IMG_5292

ProBar Core Bar & Bonk Breaker in Peanut Butter & Jelly

Cost: $2.99 & $3.25

I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the ProBar. It’s really good, and I typically am not a huge fan of protein bars. I haven’t had a chance to try the Bonk Breaker yet, but the PB&J sounds tasty.

IMG_5293

Fluid Performance Singles

Cost: $1.49 each

These packets can just be added in your water bottle and consumed during exercise. I like them because they give you the extra electrolytes while still quenching your thirst. (I’ve found some sports drinks actually make me feel more thirsty)

IMG_5294

Justin’s Maple Almond Butter & Honey Peanut Butter

Cost: $1.25 each

I’ve had these before and I am a huge fan. Honestly, I could eat the peanut butter right out of the packet but they are both great on wheat toast in the morning!

IMG_5295

Honey Stinger Energy Gels & Clif Shot Energy Gel

Cost: $1.29, $1.66, $1.25

I take the Clif shots to work with me sometimes to use as an extra pick me up. Since they have caffeine in them they give you an extra boost. I plan on trying these other two soon!

IMG_5296

Justin’s Almond Candy Bar & Breeze Bar

Cost: $2.99 and $1.99

This candy bar is all natural and has almonds, caramel, nougat and chocolate. Needless to say, it didn’t last long in my house. Will be purchasing again. (and again)

IMG_5297

Clif Shot Bloks

Cost: $1.95 each

I love Shot Blocks! These are seriously like little energy packed fruit snacks. They are super tasty, give you an energy boost and contain electrolytes.

IMG_5298

Vega Protein Smoothie & Rip van Wafels Caramel Filled Amsterdam Wafel

Cost: $1.99

These smoothie mixes are packed with vitamins and have two servings of veggies! I think smoothies are a great way to make sure you get your daily fiber. They’re yummy and easy. These Wafels are delicious and go great with coffee. ‘Nuf said.

IMG_5299

Skratch Hydration Single in Lemon Lime & Vega One Bar

Cost: $1.95 $3.98

To be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Skratch electrolyte mix. The flavor just wasn’t for me. However, this is one of the top products on The Feed’s website, so others must like it!

IMG_5300

Pro Bar Meal Bar

Cost:$3.29

I took this bar to lecture with me the other morning and it kept me full until noon! It was super tasty and there were big chunks of berries inside which made it fun to eat. I’ll definitely be buying these again! (Perfect to have in your drawer at work in case you forget to eat breakfast or pack a lunch)

Verdict: First of all, WOW to the selection of products The Feed has to offer. I got to try so many interesting things and I only scratched the surface of the items they have! I love how customizable this box is, you can spend as little or as much as you want each month. And, you can choose whether you want to be surprised, or stick with what you know and choose your own products. I also like that The Feed doesn’t only have products that are purely for athletes. So many of these items would be great to have around to promote healthier snacking!

IMG_5318

Pink Butterflies Paper & Pink Butterflies Bubble Paper

Value: $9.00

These papers are absolutely beautiful and are handmade from recycled cotton and screen-printed using water based ink.

Small Lilac Butterfly Giftbag

Value: $2.50

This a nice, thick material (same as the paper) and can absolutely be reused.

IMG_5319

Value: $4.50

These are my favorite items in the box! How beautiful are these? These can be tied on to any gift, but I think they’d also look beautiful in a photo album or a scrapbook!

IMG_5320

Here’s a look at both types of tags that were included. So pretty!

IMG_5322

Silver Luxury Ribbon & Glue Dots

Value: $3.75 & $2.49

I’ve already used some of these glue dots to put up a few prints on my walls but they also are perfect for a more professional wrapped look instead of scotch tape!

IMG_5323

Value: $5.00

This is such a sweet little box. If I can get my craft on, I’d love to make a pair of handmade earrings and present them to a friend in this box :)

Verdict: What a unique subscription! I’d love to have such beautiful wrapping materials around my house for when I have a gift. I always end up going to the store last minute and picking out something. I also love that the papers featured this month were made from recycled cotton, so they are environmentally friendly too! This is a great box if you are looking for all natural products that are earth and animal friendly.

IMG_5259

The Box: Petit Vour

The Cost: $15/month (They do ship worldwide for $30/month!)

IMG_5260

February’s message was “love is in the hare…the best of beauty without the broken hearts.”

IMG_5261

Amala Purifying Gel Cleanser, Gel Moisturizer and Clay Mask

Value: $16.00

These are generous sized packets that came with two of each of the products. I’ve never heard of Amala but their products are made without parabens or phthalates and are organic too, so I’m excited to try these!

IMG_5262

Everyday Minerals Tinted Lip Butter in Fairly Mauve

Value: $6.00

This is my favorite discovery from the box! This butter goes on super smoothly and the tint is beautiful. However, it’s subtle enough that I can wear it at work. (One of my jobs is at a gym and I like to go for a natural look!)

R.L. Linden & Co. Ms. Tilly Rosalie’s Beauty Tea

Value: $4.00

This isn’t a tea that you drink, you can use it for a beauty bath, facial steam or eye compress!

IMG_5263

OFRA Cosmetics Blush in Charm

Value: $15.00

I really like OFRA, and this blush is a nice color, but I don’t think it’s my shade so I’ll probably pass this along to a friend.

IMG_5264

IMG_5265

Everyday Minerals Color Corrector in Sunlight

Value: $7.00

I’m excited to give this a try on my terrible undereye circles. College is rough on them!

Verdict: This box had a value of around $50! Petit Vour is such an affordable beauty box especially considering the quality of the products that are included. I’m really trying to be more conscious about the products that I purchase and what they are made with. The Box: Nailed Kit

The Cost: $14/month

I checked out Nailed Kit’s website before they kindly sent me this box to review, and they have so many adorable kits available. You can purchase the kits or decals separately on their site but it definitely is a better deal to do the monthly subscription!

IMG_5247

Driven Coffee Company Review!

logo

For those of you who know me or have been following my blog for a while, you know that I adore coffee. As a proud Seattle-ite, I love trying new blends and discovering small businesses who sell delicious coffee that is ethically sourced.

That being said, I was really excited when Driven Coffee Roasters reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in trying some of their coffee!

logoDriven Coffee partners with roasters all over the world to provide it’s customers with the world’s “finest specialty grade coffees.”  But of course, that’s not all (it never is when you’re reading one of my reviews! ;) ) Driven Coffee partners with a variety of regional and national organizations and donates 10% of all sales to these organizations. They’re goal is to donate one million dollars within their first 5 years of operation. Wow!

Now let’s talk coffee:

IMG_5115

Impact Espresso Blend

This was my favorite blend between the two that I had the opportunity to sample. I love dark roast coffees that pack a punch when it comes to flavor. These beans are a mix of the Mexico Chiapas SHG, Costa Rica Tarrazu, Sumatra Mandheling, and Guatemala Antigua blends (that was a mouthful!) and I love that you can find all sorts of information on how the beans were dried and processed on Driven Coffee’s website. Super delicious, nutty blend with a bit of a smoky flavor. This bag of coffee sells for $10.95.

IMG_5118

I absolutely love opening a new bag of coffee and getting a big whiff of the scent. I was pleased to see that the coffee was whole bean. Though some people think it’s a pain, it keeps your coffee so much more fresh! Trust me, if you’re a coffee drinker, invest in a cheap coffee grinder, it will be the best investment you ever make.

IMG_5116

Breakfast Blend

This is a tasty roast that is much lighter than the espresso blend. I’d definitely recommend this blend for someone who is newer to coffee or always finds themselves loading in the cream to a darker roast coffee. I usually drink my coffee black, but even someone who typically doesn’t would likely enjoy the flavor of a cup of this breakfast blend without cream.

IMG_5117

I love their slogan, “what drives you?”

IMG_5122

Here’s a look at my tasty cup. Yes, that is a cookie in the lower part of the photo. I love indulging with a cup of coffee and sweet in the evening after a long day! Drinking coffee in the evening is a habit I developed while living in France and I can’t get rid of it.

Verdict: I’m really excited to have discovered Driven Coffee! Their website is very easy to navigate and you can order any of their coffees online. There have a list of their partner causes on the site that gives more information about each of the organizations and what they are striving for. I’m always impressed when companies donate any of their proceeds to a great cause; I think a lot of people take it for granted but I’m sure the charities who are receiving the help do not.

If you’re interested in learning more about Driven Coffee and maybe buying a bag or two, click HERE to head over to their site!
